Writing for Excellence

Writing for Excellence is a written expression program that promotes effective creative writing by Abney students.  Each Monday morning, through the morning meeting process, students are giving a specific writing topic of the week.  All during the week students write on a short paragraph(s) about the topic.  On Friday of each week, teachers collect the students' writings and display them on the walls of their hall.  Specific writings are then selected by teachers and posted on the Writing for Excellent billboard located in the school’s main breezeway.  Also, on the following Monday, two writings are selected by the principal and are read to the student body via morning meeting.  This program promotes the development of good written expression skills through creative writing.
